Alanna, childcare : England

Hi there, I am 29 years old and have recently relocated to the UK from Australia.

I began babysitting when I was 13 and from there my career path was chosen for me. While babysitting for local families I also worked at a primary school caring for children before and after school.

Then, in 2009 I moved to the US where I worked and lived as an Au Pair, caring for 2 chilled from birth and 21 months. I did this for a year and then returned two years later when the children were 3 and 5. In 2011 I returned to the US and worked at a summer camp.

In Australia I nannied part time for a couple of families while also working as a youth worker caring for children who had been removed from their parents due to abuse and neglect. Theses children were aged from birth to 17.

As a nanny I believe I have done a good job at the end of the day if your child has had fun, been happy (minus the expected temper tantrums) and has learnt something new along the way.
