Lucy, childcare in Fremington EX31

My name is Lucy, I am 29 and I live in Barnstaple with my partner and our baby son.

I have lived here for most of my life, spending a year in Exeter to work in a school.

I have always been passionate about childcare and could not imagine doing anything else.

My other interests include swimming, enjoying meals whilst socialising and holidays!

I am reliable, trustworthy and enjoy building relationships with new people.

I am in the process of getting a new DBS check and update my first aid.

I can babysit evenings and weekends. If I was needed weekdays I would have to bring my child if I could not find care.

I worked as Deputy Manager at a Private Montessori based Nursery for many years ensuring a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for the children in the setting.

My role allowed me to manage staff members and also work in a team whilst supporting the aims and objectives of the nursery. I worked with parents and other professionals to meet each child's needs.

I planned and carried out activities with children to further their development and provided extra support for children with additional needs whilst monitoring and recording each child's development.

From this I decided to gain more experience within a classroom environment as I aim to teach in the future. I worked as a classroom assistant in a city for a year before having my child.

This experience provided me with a chance to understand the curriculum, work alongside teachers and gain more understanding into the child's world. I also worked closely with a child with Down syndrome which have me the opportunity to learn about Makaton, sign language and finding alternative ways of communicating.

I have completed a BA (Honours) degree with the Open University. I intend to continue my professional development and become a teacher when my little boy goes to school.
