I am currently employed within a early years setting working with children from birth to 5 years. I am a key worker within my current playroom and I am responsible for the care and development of the children within my care. In my previous employment I have extensive experience working within a setting which ranges from 4-12 years. This was situated within a local authority primary school setting. Within this role I was responsible for working with children with additional support needs including cerebral palsy, autistic spectrum disorder etc. – adapting the curriculum for Excellence to suit their individual needs. Previous to that I was the senior/head of the 2-5 room and taking the full responsibility for the pre-school group. I have had experience with all age groups as I have been working as a childcare practitioner for 11years. Within this time I first started within the 0-1 room, from then I was promoted as senior of the 1-2 room, and from then on I had the responsibility of the 2-5 room. I have extensive experience working with outdoor environments as well as eco schools etc which I became very involved in and promoted throughout my career.. I love working with all age groups. Within my daily routine I provide the essential care and respect for the children and work as a team and collaboratively with staff. In my setting I have been responsible for implementing a new curriculum for Excellence as well as Pre birth to three planning system and I am very confident in working with this as well as the other key documents involved in my practice. Also in my job role I was the health and safety officer and ensure the smooth running of the nursery also from this point of view - including fire regulations etc. I am currently looking for another job role to further my career prospects and to expand and share my skills. I have also in took a year out from working within an establishment to undertake a HNC Administration and IT as I personally felt that this would benefit my skills day to day including planning engaging activities as well as help me undertake my future studies within childcare.
