Rachel, childcare in Heysham

My name is Rachel and I am 26, I love children and wether they are fostered, family, friends children or acquaintences I always treat each child the same way.

I am a very responsible person but I can truly make the child feel happy around myself. To look after a child I feel you must be able to act/be child-minded, yes I actually mean be childish how can you get them to feel comfortable around you if you can't play like a child?
Now-a-days Technology is taking the imagination away. The other day I was round at my sisters and she was having a BBQ there were 6 children playing in the pool and there was a slide near the pool. I thought back when I was younger we would of automatically used our imagination and got the slide in the pool and made our own pool slide, so ofcorse I took the slide put the end in the pool and they absolutely loved it. Now I ensured there was always an adult holding the slide and they went down one at a time and took the slide out when no adult was going to be around but this is the kind of thing that children love and learn patience, to take turns, and be imaginative.

I also think if not already introduced to board and card games, they learn so much rather than a game on the iPad. Kids need to learn to lose and learn from losing. Going outside playing in the garden and planting flowers and vegetables, once they start they really enjoy it and it will build their immune systems up. People can be too protective now. I remember making mud Pies mixing mud, grass and lavender plant to make a face pack. Makes bath time more fun mixing shampoo and soap together to make potions.

Food can be tricky but learning what they like and turning eating into a game to make sure they eat when they don't want to can help. When food shopping get them to pick something different so they are more inclined to eat something different because they have chose it also makes your own tea/dinner more interesting.

I feel I am experienced looking after all kinds of children and will make it fun, I can be serious and in control strict when needed and I am always happy to clean and cook if needed.
