Throughout the past 2 years working as a trainee child care assistant this has gained me My SVQ level 3 in child care. I have gained knowledge in planning activities, consulting with children and taking into account individual needs, interests and abilities. I am able to deliver and evaluate activities and experiences interacting effectively with children in an individual basis as well as with groups of children to promote and extend children’s development and learning. I can actively participate in observations and assessment of children and the gathering of evidence for the purpose of profiles and reports sharing information with colleagues, agencies and working in partnership with parents/carers to promote and support children’s learning to enable each child to reach their full potential. I have experience caring for children on a one to one basis who have additional support needs, supporting children and building trusting relationships with the child and their carers. I can work closely with multi- disciplinary teams and agencies and be involved in the child’s Care plan and attend review meetings and communicate effectively working with all agencies to ensure all of the child’s needs are met and the best possible care and education is delivered. My current role has enabled me to extend my knowledge and skills. I work closely with team members playing an active role and working closely with groups of children planning, delivering and evaluating activities and experiences addressing each area of Curriculum for Excellence and guidance contained in Building the Ambition, observing and assessing children and recording this information to build up a profile and enhance the children’s learning and development. I also work on a one to one basis with children whilst being responsible for full day provision providing stimulating activities appropriate to the child’s needs, interests and stage of development. I ensure I support and challenge each child addressing each area of Curriculum for Excellence and Shanarri to ensure the child’s overall well being, development and learning needs are met, recording information daily that is clear, concise and accurate. I am also responsible for ensuring and promoting healthy choices during lunch times and in accordance with Setting the Table guidelines so that children's early choices build a stepping stone for a healthy lifestyle. I work in partnership with parents contributing to care plan reports and care plan meetings ensuring that parents are consulted on the progress of their child as well as building on their strengths and weaknesses agreeing the next steps for progression to take their development and learning forward. I have also assisted in providing provision for smooth transition working alongside qualified members of staff and reassuring children and parents so as a smooth transition will enable the child to settle well, promoting their development and learning and enabling them reach their full potential. I participate in continual professional development opportunities and self evaluation in accordance with Child at the Centre monitoring and review . I always work in a professional caring manner building trusting relationships and communicating effectively with colleagues, children and their families
