Esther, childcare in Birmingham

Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Esther , I am 26 years old and I am from a quiet town near Valencia in Spain.

I will begin with a little information about my studies that are very important to me. Upon finishing my secondary education I began to study a Social Integration course, due to the fact that I have always been interested in being able to help or guide people and above all to work with multi-culturalism and integration in children and instill those values from childhood.
Once I had finished these studies, I decided to continue my education and I started a degree in Social Welfare, in this way I continued to learn in this area and I specialised in working with families and children.

I consider myself to be a responsible, hardworking person, as from the age of 18, in addition to my studies, I have been working as a sales assistant for the sports retailer Decathlon. This job shows another side of me, my passion for sports. I very much love enjoying fresh air with sports such as cycling, running, roller-blading and so on. As well as going to the gym regularly. Moreover, I like to be happy, I like to laugh and make other people laugh and I believe this is a good way to get the most out of life. I also consider myself an outgoing person, I like to meet new people and get to know them. Punctuality is another of my strong points, I don’t like being late to an appointment and making people wait.
If I had to talk about a negative aspect of my character I would say that I am too organised and ordered. I really like to plan everything and have it all under control. In addition to this, I am pretty ambitious, in the sense, I always like to have a goal to fight for and work towards day by day.

As for my hobbies, interests and passtimes, as well as sport, which I have already mentioned, I love spending time with my friends and family, especially my family. I come from a traditional family but have received a modern education always focused on respect, tolerance, freedom of choice and the saying “live and let live”, within limits of course. In general we all get along well and we love to spend time together. Weekends and holidays we usually go to a small cottage that we have in the countryside where we spend hours playing boardgames, preparing food and having parties with the rest of my family of friends, going on hikes in the mountains or simply chatting and laughing. Another of my passions are animals. I love them, which is another reason I love the countryside. Our cat and dog are considered part of the family!!!

My experience in caring for children can be seen in two parts. My studies, my profession or social work like the participation in summer camps where I go with a group of monitors to the country to spend 10 or 15 days with children, caring for them and organising activities. Also, I have worked together with other professionals on projects for leisure and free time, and projects on good habits in nutrition and hygene. Moreover, I am a volunteer at an association which provides help and assistance to underage immigrants who arrive in Valencia without any family where I provide spanish lessons to the children.
As for direct child care, for the last 6 month , I have been supporting and caring for a little 4 year old girl when her parents have needed me, whether this is playing with her in the local park or at home, giving her food, bathing her and all the rest of the care a 4 year old needs. Also I am the eldest of many cousins and as such I give revision classes to my 2 cousins, 11 and 9 years old, who are in school and I have cared for them on many occasions.

The biggest reason I want to work as a nanny at this time is, of course, that I love children- it is impossible to be a good nanny without loving children, as well as this, I am a person who feels a great connection to children, I love them and I feel they love. In conclusion, working with children is the perfect job to me.
