My name is Shannon and I'm 19 years old. I am an outgoing individual who loves to take care of children. I have looked after children for about 5-6 years, whether it has been my siblings, other people's children who know me, non-blood relative relatives, etc.
Before I start caring for the children, I need to know everything about them, such as allergies, specific bedtime, any disabilities, need homework doing, if they need their tea, if there are any animals I need to care for as well, etc. As much information about what is needed to be done is better for me as I can get started as soon as I arrive so you are not late for anything.
While I start caring for the children, I ensure everything that is needed to be done is done effectively. I make sure that the timeline is stuck to correctly. If a child is being badly behaved, I give them a time out so they can calm down.
For children less than 6 months, I ensure all the necessary care is undertook, as I know how to look after a child of that age, due to my sibling. I also make sure the child is not bored, so like shake their rattle or rock them to sleep, etc.
For children 6 months to a year, I ensure that all necessary care is undertook. I make sure the children are having a good time, by playing hide and seek, playing with toys, watch cartoons, making silly faces, etc.
For children 1 year and upwards, I do what I do with the other, the usual care that is necessary. I then play games, make sure they are okay, I tuck them into bed, give them food if they are hungry, everything that is normally done for children of these ages.
I make sure that all children are safe from harm, by locking the doors and making sure the windows are shut as soon as I get there, unless the child is out with their friends over the road. I make sure I check that the child is still where I seen them. I also make sure that there isn't anything that could harm the child, for example if the child is running around, move the toys so they don't trip, ask them to be careful and watch where they are running.
The work I do with children is all for the children. I have had good reports from family friends, saying I'm an excellent child carer, and they have asked me to do it again.
