Bethany, childcare in Dundee

Hi! I'm Bethany, I'm a 20-year-old, 2nd-year student at the University of Dundee, studying Primary Education. I have experience with teaching and taking care of children from ages 5 to 11, but I am happy to take care of children of any age!
I am a caring, positive, and patient person who is great with children. My passions include sports, cooking, arts and crafts, and teaching.

I am a reliable and responsible individual with 2 years working in hospitality and retail. One of my part-time jobs was working in a café in my hometown. I enjoyed working there as I got to be a friendly face that children and families see when they come in and be part of a welcoming, family-friendly environment. Although I do not have any professional babysitting or childcare experience, I have lots of experience with young people as I have +3 years of completing placements in primary schools, as well as tutoring and helping with additional support needs in secondary schools. I am a bright, enthusiastic person and I love the energy and creativity that children have.

I am a crafty and creative person, which is extremely important in my role as an educator in university. I am an avid baker and cook, and I’d be happy to cook meals and get the children involved if that is something that is you and they are interested in! I have experience cooking a variety of meals, including vegetarian and vegan, and I enjoy making lots of tasty, nutritious meals such as curry, burgers, pizzas, fajitas, and many pasta dishes. In terms of baking, I enjoy baking a lot but some of my favourite bakes are cookies, snickerdoodles, and brownies! The children I have baked with have loved creating the various cookies!

My other passion, and what drives me as a person, is teaching and learning about education! As well as researching and applying knowledge within the university, during my time in secondary school I was a House Captain, and I was fortunate to be able to work within the additional support for learning team for younger years at my school. This awarded me with many experiences that have helped me to develop strategies and techniques with children on different spectrums.

As I am still at university, I can work afternoons, evenings and all day during the weekend. The exception for this could be not working Monday and Thursday 6-8 as I am a member of my university’s lacrosse team, but this can be discussed. I will have placements for periods, but you will be given plenty of notice for when this will occur. I do not drive, unfortunately, but I will walk/bus depending on the location.

Since developing my education degree, I have come to adore working alongside children more and more, and I would love to have the opportunity to babysit.
