Over the past several years I have dedicated myself to a number of volunteering activities which I have thoroughly enjoyed because they have given me the opportunity to give something back to my community. I have volunteered for KEMP Hospice on a weekly basis for several months, been an active member of the charity group at my previous sixth form and also taken part in reading buddies throughout my school career as well as being a ‘Leader’ in Vertical Tutoring at high school. Volunteering and taking part in charity work has been not only rewarding, but also enhanced my organisation skills which are essential to babysitting, especially if caring for multiple children of varying ages. In addition, it has also developed my sense of initiative and my ability to successfully work under pressure and take on multiple responsibilities simultaneously. Being a reading buddy involved mentoring and promoting reading for lower years – typically years seven and eight (around 11-13 years old). As a voluntary position, this required unwavering commitment, understanding and the capability to enthuse children about reading whilst also improving their education. I hope that this, along with my GCSE and AS-Level results, demonstrates that I am fully proficient in helping your child or children with their homework if you so require. Aside from practical skills, I am also a genuinely compassionate person who is preparing to complete a degree in nursing and later, possibly midwifery.
