Hello, my name is Kirstie.

I'm an active 24 year old with a loyal and caring personality. I am capable and intelligent and can work on my own or as part of team. I have excellent interpersonal skills and thoroughly enjoy the company of others.

I am a member at my local gym and enjoy reading, listening to music and taking long walks. I also enjoy cooking and regularly eat out.

Since leaving school at 16, I have consistently worked in childcare settings, ranging from classroom assistant to looking after children during the day and after school.

My first job was at a nursery with children between the ages of 2 and 5, daily duties included: Feeding, changing nappies, encouraging learning through play activities, story time and activities which promoted excellent gross and fine motor skills.

I then moved on to primary school as a teaching assistant and worked with children between the ages of 5 and 7. Daily duties here included, helping with classroom activities and ensuring children were working to their full potential. I also had my own reading group. I recorded their progress and ensured all children were in the relevant group. I was also involved in raising individual literacy and numeracy standards on a 1:1 and small group basis.

After this primary school I worked as a one to one at another primary school with a child with additional learning needs. I would accompany him to Physiotherepy Sessions, Speech and Language Sessions and Occupational Therpay Sessions.

I then returned to the nursery where I worked previously and have been there since 2013.

Amongst these, I have had permanent involvement with a family that have two boys. From the ages of 2 and a half and 4 I have frequently looked after these boys. They are now 6 and 8 and are still a big part of my life.

(I also help look after my 11 month old god daughter, changing nappies, feeding and soothing to sleep. This isn't paid work but does contribute to my experience as I am there more than I am home, through choice of course.)

I have been working with a 4 year old boy and a 6 year old girl since April 2015 but in June the family had some personal problems and unfortunately had to let me go.

I also hope to start my Childcare Level 3 Qualification in the near future.
