I am a mature, responsible, reliable, and cheerful person with childcare experience both personal and professional.
I hold an SVQ Level 2 & 3 in Child Development, and have done numerous courses over the years to further my knowledge.
I simply love children, I have a younger sister of 11 years difference. Growing up with a baby sister was a really rewarding and fun experience for me. I got to help with all the important tasks involved in caring for a baby. From the moment she was born I knew I wanted to work with children.
I started my childcare career in Aberdeen, working up the ladder. I started by working for a childminder, looking after up to 6 children at a time from the ages of 3 months to 5 years. It was a great number to start with, as I felt it helped build my confidence.
After six months I decided it was time to kick start my qualifications and was offered a job with a well established private nursery in Aberdeen. I started off in the baby department, and I was in my element!! We had up to 15 babies a day. I completed my SVQ level 2 while working in that room. After I completed my first qualification, I was promoted up to support worker, and was offered a job in one of their bigger nurseries (one of three). Again I was in the baby department, where we had up to 20 babies on an ordinary day. I soon moved into the toddler room, having up to 15 toddlers a day, and then to the pre-school room having up to 33 children a day. It was a lot more busy and hands on, and was in a fatastic location right in the middle of Aberdeen, with a large garden and lots of local emendities for outings.
Me and my fiancé had a beautiful baby girl in 2009, but unfortunately due to travelling and commuting we found it was too much, so I decided to make the decision to hand in my notice, and find work closer to home.
I then started working in a private nursery in Peterhead. I was put straight into the pre-school room, which varied in numbers from 24-33 children a day. The nursery owners also owned an after school club, and I covered staff in the holidays also. I also took my funding with me and completed my SVQ level 3, and not long after we had a little boy.
So as you can imagine I have had quite a lot of experience with children, whether it be newborns, the oh-so-not-so terrible twos, the fretful there's and all the way up to sixteen years of age!
