Fay, childcare in Ponteland

My name is Fay and I am nearly 21 years old. I live in Ponteland, and have done all my life. I studied Childcare Learning and Development at Newcastle College for 2 years and finished with my Level 3 NVQ qualification.

Since the age of about 13 I have wanted to work with children. I was always considered the "mother hen" when I was growing up because i showed such an inerest in babies and children younger than me. I started reading books by an author called Cathy Glass who is a foster carer that writes about her experiences. Since then I have made it my ambition in life to care for children, eventually going on to foster myself.

I have experience of working with children ages 0-8 from my placements whilst at college, and I also have alot of experience from working with a family as their babysitter for 6 years. Their first son was 3 when I first started looking after him, and they then went on to have another child who I started looking after from the age of 3 months. I have developed a very strong relationship with the 2 boys and the family, but they have recently moved abroad due to the husbands job.

I encountered alot of routines while with the family, especially when the second son arrived. It was never felt like i was just a babysitter though, if I was ever going to the beach or for a walk to the park, I would ring up and ask of the children would like to come. So I was not JUST there when the family required.

I also have about 10 months experience of working with an autistic child while I worked as a taxi assistant.

I feel I would make a good family Nanny because I am good at developing relationships with children and their families, and I love nothing more than making children happy and seeing them progress.
