Hi, my names karimah and I live in England, Birmingham. I have a passion for working with children and am an outgoing, creative, and empathetic individual. My interests and hobbies include volunteering, camping, creative arts, rock climbing and archery. I'm on the pathway to a career as a Doctor in Paediatrics.

I'm a versatile student proficient in managing childcare needs for busy families and eager to step in and take on additional household tasks. Im a trustworthy babysitter with experience looking after children of varying ages and kind and compassionate aspiring to provide nurturing, safe care. I provide morning, after school, evening and weekend support to meet changing family needs (especially as its the holidays now) I'm a child care professional skilled in building positive relationships with children and families and experienced at connecting with children to help fulfil their needs. Committed to developing educational, emotional and social skills with learning through play. Im dedicated about maintaining a secure, hygienic environment fthat adheres to exceptional health and safety standards. I have experience navigating high-stress situations and achieve goals on time and under budget. First aid trained and responds calmly and efficiently to manage crisis and emergency situations.

I'm very passionate about helping to ensure that people with disabilities are treated and have access to the same opportunities as people without disabilities as far as is feasible of course. I'm also a big believer of the idea of “paying it forward”: passing onto other people what you received yourself and I want to make a difference to someone else that I wished someone had to me when I was younger. I want the children to be treated like normal people by at least one person if possible. Most of the people I meet the minute they hear special needs or learning/health disability they think they need to treat them like a child or even less than that or worse thereshey label the child with red tape and are unwarrantedly cautious making the child feel excluded alone and like they're a burden. I'm a big believer no child should be made to feel like that. When I worked with any person at all I gave them the respect they deserved. They got treated like a normal person, not like an "alien" or younger than their age. I just try to treat people how they should be treated and ensuring that how they're treated doesn't harm their emotional or mental health.

I have previous experience babysitting children including children with learning disabilities like neurodivergent children and chronic health conditions such as Epilepsy, Type One diabetes and Asthma. One of the things I've learnt is that children are rarely being deliberately ‘naughty’, they are usually reacting to something such as a lot of noise, bright lights, too many people or something else that you may not have noticed but is overwhelming for them. Distraction with something ‘more fun’ or going to a quieter place to calm down (or even the promise of a biscuit!) are often good ways to diffuse the situation. I've also helped run youth clubs and organised activities for children with type one diabetes.
