Amy, childcare - IV30 Miltonduff

I am a 19 year old female, whom has gained my HNC in childcare and Early Education. I am hardworking, reliable person who works well in a team, but equally capable of working on my own initiative.
I am an effective contributor and team player, and I can keep motivated and focussed at all times.
For the past two years I have been working with children in preschool and education. In 2013 after work experience at a primary school I decided I wanted to have a career working and helping children and young people. Throughout my HNC I had the opportunity to gain experience in my placements which were at several nursery settings and primary school. I received practical work experience of the different age groups of children working with as young as 18 months to 9 years old. At one of my placement in local primary school I was involved in helping a child with extra needs and built a positive relationship with the child to gain trust from them. I aided them in class to help with their learning and helped them to communicate their feelings.
During my time in a pre-school setting it has helped me to develop a deeper understanding and knowledge of children and their education and learning, working with other professionals and agencies. While the children are in the setting it is important that there are age and stage suitable activities planned for the children and that these activities are planned, prepared and facilitated. I can reflect on my own work to see what I can do better or what can be changed.
In my limited experiences I have worked with groups of children and an individual’s to help with their learning and have worked very closely within the equal opportunities framework, it is important to take into account if a child has a certain religion or the child’s sexuality. I have good written and verbal communication communicating with children and adults. Punctuality and organisation is important in my work therefore I am always n time so the setting can open and allow trust to be kept with colleagues, parents and children. It is extremely important to be organised to keep the paperwork up to date. It is also important that all the information discussed in the setting is confidential.
While doing this work I always have in mind child protection issues, policies and procedures and health and safety regulations and to have a good work ethic. I also have good values and principles that underpin my work.
I have worked with multi-agencies such as dentists, opticians, speech therapists and other professional that help develop the children’s learning. I would very much like to progress with working with children whilst gaining a career and further experience. I enjoy and am always looking for ways to improve my personal and professional development and welcome any training. I have wide knowledge of life, common sense and have a sense of humour of humour with an easy going character, and not scared of hard work.
