Kim, childcare in Keighley

Hi I'm Kim :)

I grew up in Keighley, and when I was 19 I moved to Essex to embark on a music degree, unfortunately the course just wasn't suited to my musical experiences, so I decided to take a year out and try some different things, I worked in a pubs and even managed a greek restaurant.

I then decided enough was enough and went back to uni. My passion has always been working with children and young people, so I wanted to study a degree which would allow me to do just that. I studied an Education Studies Degree to which I proudly achieved a high 2:1.

Whilst at Uni, I worked in an SEN School as an LSA, I worked on a huge youth programme in London called NCS, I then went onto running youth centers and a before an after school club. I then went into local primary school's as a sub-contractor and ran anger management and behaviour management workshops, peer support training, and play leader training. I absolutely loved being around all of these amazing children and young people on a daily basis.

My proudest achievement was when I was granted a funding bid to work in schools supporting them in recognizing young carers. One of my youth groups was specifically for young carers, and through this I really found my get up and go. I went into schools and ran training sessions for teachers and governors about what a young carer is etc....

I moved back to Keighley in September where I was running a behaviour unit in a school, but I felt I was too restricted in this job, and started to feel at a loose end. Since then I've been working as a support worker, but I'm now looking for something to fit in around my other commitments

I am always up for a challenge! I like to think that I am firm but fair, I love to play games and get messy doing arts and crafts activities! I do have a competitive streak though so be aware when it comes to Monopoly!
