I have been working with a family to take care of their child for the past two years since she was born. The overall duties I completed were changing, feeding, taking the child to and from various play activities as well as putting the child to sleep and regulating their nap times. As I watched the child grow we have grown a special bond that has allowed and this child would be brought along to the jobs that I was doing as although I no longer get paid to work with her she has become a member of the family. My experience includes looking after children of many different ages as my mother was a foster carer whilst I was growing up I was able to gain an array of skills which included looking after children with special educational needs as well as gaining the trust of children who had not had the best start in life. I've already got a well-versed amount of connections with other nannies and au pairs so the children would never be short of children to play with and as stated before the child I regularly look after would always be available to play and has many friends that will be available to play and help the children to build on their interactions. More recently I have been working in a small primary school as a wraparound carer (7:30-8:30) (3:15-6:15). I felt that this was a fantastic opportunity to put my learned skills and knowledge as a psychology student at university to good practice. Working with children from the ages of 5-11 gave me a great understanding of how young children operate and I gained a lot of knowledge of how to identify when children are feeling nurtured and safe. On top of the general looking after KD the children and keeping them entertained I took up food preparation and had to also gauge the interpersonal skills they were all learning which was incredibly interesting. availability would be 5 days a week Monday to Friday and I have held a full and clean driving license for over two years and am confident in driving to and from a variety of destinations, so the children will never be short of something to do.
Occasional babysitting | $9.50 per hour |
With the range of skills I’ve acquired over the past 7 years of early years childcare I’ve taken on I’m now able to offer children and families a highly specialised experience. The rates I charge are based on this, although I do not charge the highest prices I always provide he most premium service. Making sure not only the child is fully satisfied and enjoys the time they spend with me but their parents have the knowledge and peace of mind that I’m treating their child as a member of my own family.
