Kayleigh, childcare - NP44 Cwmbran

I am Kayleigh, I’m 17 from the Cwmbran area. I haven’t got a lot of experience with looking after children, yet I have helped out at a local primary school with a Performing Arts group as part of a Sixth Form project. I really enjoyed interacting with the kids of various ages (7-11) and helping them improve their drama skills. Also, when I have looked after young family members in the past I have thoroughly enjoyed myself. I love talking to children and as a young person I feel that they enjoy my company too.
While I am not comfortable with having too much responsibility I am able to look after children for a few hours (up to 6), as well as cooking simple meals for them and washing/ tidying up before your arrival home.
I have an extroverted personality which helps when being with new people and children.
While working with the children at the primary school I had the task of playing games with them to ensure they felt comfortable for the remainder of the sessions, these included acting games where I gave them a peculiar word that they had to incorporate into their chosen scene, and the other children had to guess what the given word was. They really seemed to enjoy this game and would ask to repeat it every time.
When with my young family members we usually draw and colour because that is what they are intrigued by and I am an A Level Art student which helps.
At school I am also studying Psychology and Drama (alongside Art). The Drama helps with confidence and the Psychology helps with understanding human behaviour, which is very interesting.
