My name is Carly, I'm a 27 year old parent looking for some part time work now that my children are at full time school. I have been a mum for 11 years and genuinely enjoy being around children of all ages. I'm very active and enthusiastic and enjoy activities such as reading, art and swimming. I'm quite a social person and I've been described as warm and approachable. I have a caring and empathetic nature and I'm a very punctual, responsible and reliable care giver. I'm the second eldest of six children with large age gaps and so spent a lot of my teens helping to care for my younger siblings which I very much enjoyed. I became a young mum unexpectedly and (as I'm sure you can imagine) I was a little daunted by the prospect of parenthood. However when my daughter, Abby, was born I fell in love instantly and threw myself into being a mum. My daughter was taken ill at 11 days old and after a traumatic few days was diagnosed with tetralogy of fallots, a rare and critical heart condition. She had her first of 7 open heart surgeries at 13 days old. It was an incredibly distressing time and there were times where I was told to prepare for the worst. Thankfully Abby pulled through and is now a beautiful, healthy 11 year old about to begin secondry school! When she was 4 her brother Theo (6) came along, closely followed by lily (5) had finally Freddy (4) completed our family in 2011. Sadly their father and I split in 2013 and we now share 50/50 care of our children which we have found to work well.
As a single mother of 4 I am used to dealing with chaotic situations and am able to diffuse and resolve issues calmly and fairly. I always listen to everyone's side of the story before making a decision on how to proceed. I believe in explaining to children why things are dangerous or unkind etc rather than taking the "because it just is"' approach. I'm someone who always wants to know "why/what/how" and enjoy learning new things and I delight in teaching others the things I know or finding out the answers to things I don't.
I'm a very good time keeper and try to to organised at all times. I love cooking and trying out new dishes. I can't say I love cleaning but there is a certain satisfaction in a job well done so am happy to help out with housework.
I have a child development GCSE at A grade and an NVQ level 1 in early childcare years. With Abby about to begin secondry school I have experience with school and home work up to year 6 so would be happy to help with homework and school projects.
I would like to work for a family with up to 4 children who are looking for some part time help with childcare/babysitting and would happily help out around the home too. I can be quite flexible with my hours so can be around at short notice.
Thank you for taking the time to read my personal statement, if there is anything else you would like to know please don't hesitate to get in touch.
