Hello, My name is Lucy
I have always known that I would like to follow in my mother's footsteps and become a primary school teacher so, following the completion of my studies in Dubai. I decided to take a years break from education and volunteered to work in a primary school, thereby gaining 1600 hours experience. These experiences have enabled me to learn through first-hand experience the role of a professional practitioner and to understand the importance of following policies and procedures and respecting confidentiality.
When in Dubai I attended an International school where I developed friendships with students from many different cultural and ethnic backgrounds which taught me about communication barriers, discrimination and diversity. I have also been lucky enough to travel to many countries where I have learnt about other people's beliefs, cultures, backgrounds, lifestyles and religions. Throughout my education, volunteering and travelling I have developed many skills and learnt how to manage my time, listen to and respect the views, thoughts and opinions of others, be organised and work effectively both as part of a team and independently. My long term aim is to to continue my training in university followed by a PGCE course.
