About Me:
Hi I'm Della. I am 27 year old nanny, living in Hove. I have 10 years experience working with newborns up to teenagers within childcare, education, leisure and private home settings.
I am passionate about providing children with nurturing care and the education to be successful learners. I’m enthusiastic in creating an atmosphere that is inspiring, stimulating, encouraging, safe, and adaptive to each child's individual needs.
I’m an active person and enjoy alternative fitness and the outdoors, often making use of surrounding Sussex and my national trust membership with friends and family. I also enjoy dance and going to the theatre. I like home cooking and baking and am a fan of Jamie Oliver and the Bake Off.
I also have two nieces and two nephews that I love spending time with, often sharing fun adventures.
Experience:
I am currently working part-time as a mothers help/sole charge nanny. I have been with them since last July when their second child was newborn and their first was 1 years old. My duties include following the children's care plans, helping to implement new routines, providing age appropriate activities and outings, preparing home cooked meals and light house work duties.
My other experience has included working with The University of Brighton on outreach projects with disadvantage children/students from primary - university application, children 6-19 years old. This has involved leading activity based workshops, sessions and talks in multiple subject areas such as, sport, health, psychology, art and science.
I've managed and developed non-residential after school/holiday camps for children aged 4-12 years. Including sports, arts and crafts, swimming and more. Whilst in this role I was also responsible for children's parties and have hosted anything from outdoor wet 'n' wild summer parties to traditional party games to full dress up Disney and pirates hidden treasure parties. Haven't quite mastered magic yet but I'm working on it ;)
I have managed residential summer schools, looking after the welfare of children/young people aged 11-20 years. My main responsibilities were to lead a safe, creative and pupil centred experience but also during my time as an activities manager, I specifically had to implement and deliver an exciting and innovating activity program both in and out of school. Some activities included, street surfing, drama and dance workshops, science sessions, visits to local Sussex museums and attractions and all the sports you can imagine.
I am a qualified swimming teacher and have run swimming schools in Brighton for children and adults swimming lessons.
Qualifications:
I have a first class BA Honors degree in Physical Education. During my degree I completed two teaching placements working with children aged 11-18 in both private and state schools.
I'm also a qualified swimming teacher and have various other sporting qualifications in gymnastics, rugby, boxing, orienteering, cheerleading and tennis.
I've completed safeguarding and protection training and also have a certificate in health and safety in the work place.
Availability:
I am currently avalible Monday to Friday. I am interested in either a full time role or two part time positions.
