I am a kind, caring, motivated enthusiastic and proactive person. I have a real passion for working with children and young people in nurturing roles. I am 31 years of age and have been working alongside children in both a social care and educational capacity for 10 years to date. Previously I cared for a young boy who due to terminal illness became blind, I supported him in his familial home and to summer schools, interacting with him, engaging him in creative activities that appealed to his senses as well as ensuring that his physical needs were also met in the absence of his parents. Following this I became a Learning Support Assistant in a secondary school special needs department and supported children and young people with emotional social and behavioural issues as well as Autism, speech and language and communication difficulties as well as dyslexia. I have an excellent knowledge of supporting and caring for individuals with additional needs to develop and promote wellbeing. I am a trained Primary School teacher and have experience of working across all age groups in both mainstream and Special needs schools. I have excellent communication skills and a very good sense of humour. I love learning and feel that my enthusiasm for exploring and learning new things is inspiring to those I support in encouraging them to do the same. I am confident to support children with completing homework tasks as well as any household jobs.
I am very creative and enjoy literature and stories art and music, I enjoy supporting children's creativity and natural enquiry about life and nurturing this. I also enjoy being outdoors and love animals, I have a dog and love going for walks with him, as a result I know lots of interesting places to walk and visit. As I have young children in my family I am knowledgeable about regional activities that are engaging and exciting for children to experience such as Seven Stories. I can drive and have my own transport to meet any travel needs.

I am currently working as a supply teacher in a Special needs primary school and will have no work during the summer holidays. I would be happy to help out with day time care during this period and perhaps beyond if the opportunity were to arise.

Lucy worked with me in an Assistant psychology role. It was difficult to identify a category above as none truly represent the work she completed, however we worked in providing clinical advice for supported living for those with complex needs so home help seemed the most fitting. I was her supervisor and found her work to be of a high standard. Lucy is extremely conscientious and hard working (often to her own detriment, putting the needs of others first!!). She is a fantastic team player and is able to build strong therapeutic relationships and work with a diverse range of clients. She is also able to liaise confidently and share difficult information with both family and professionals alike. Her experiences in psychology and education make Lucy an ideal candidate for working with children (or any other age range or ability range) in any capacity. She is able to merge her own experiences and evidence based theory to provide her with excellent skills in her chosen field of work.
