I feel that I am very well suited for it and I believe that I will make a brilliant addition to your team. I will do this by bringing in the essential skills and qualities I have amassed through my educational and vocational experiences.
For the past four years I have worked in a variety of roles within the educational system. I began my career as a volunteer nursery assistant at a local nursery where I was working with children aged between 2 and 5 years old. I did this on a temporary, part-time basis in order to gain experience whilst also completing my GCSE’s. I would work alongside the nursery manager, practitioners and other assistants in order to gain a greater depth of knowledge and confidence in my work. On top of this, I volunteered to work in the main office for one day a week which would involve me filing important documents, ringing parents and signing children in and out. My volunteer work enabled me to learn how to balance work, education and life to a high standard.
After finishing off my schooling at 16, the nursery I had volunteered with felt that it would be a good idea to send me to complete the Children and Young People’s Workforce Level 2 training. I passed this the following year and also gained a Paediatric First Aid Certificate. After my volunteering position at this nursery, I began volunteering temporarily at another local nursery due to their being short-staffed. During this role, I assisted the other staff members with tasks such as setting up activities and for lunch time. This role was incredibly fast paced and busy which allowed me to learn to multitask and work in a busy environment whilst also ensuring my quality of work never slipped.
Following my volunteering period, I then went on to get a job as a Midday Meals Supervisor. My job was specifically to work on a 1:1 basis with a child with ASD. It was my responsibility to support this child every day for an hour by assisting him with his lunch and keeping him calm at all times. I did this by playing games. I was responsible for introducing him to new people and transitioning him from classroom to the playground. Following my great success within this post and the good relationship I built with this student, I was offered the Learning Support Assistant position. Throughout this role my understanding and compassion for those who have special educational needs rose greatly and my ability to incorporate different strategies to assist learning was improved upon. Unfortunately, the child’s needs were so complex the school was unable to keep him and his parents felt it best to send him to a specialist SEN school.
Following this position I then entered another Midday Meals Supervisor position with additional responsibilities including the SEN lunch time supervisor. This role involved me and another team member who took a group of children with special educational needs to a smaller playground and helped them learn to play together whilst also learning new things.
As I had moved from part-time to part-time position, I felt it was time to begin something more full-time. I began an apprenticeship at a nursery in Greenwich. Due to the manager being incredibly impressed with my work ethic and determination, I was offered a full-time permanent contract as a Nursery Practitioner. With this new responsibility came a new passion and determination to succeed and really make a difference in the work I carried out. I gained a lot of confidence and felt more and more comfortable taking on leadership roles when required. Working with babies between 0-2 was demanding but also incredibly rewarding and really helped me adapt to becoming a better-rounded individual. I thrived in the busy environment and really felt as though I was developing new skills and qualities that would greatly assist me for further jobs in the future.
Unfortunately, due to personal circumstances I was required to leave this post and move to Kent full-time. Hence, my applications for this post now.
Working extensively with children has allowed me to gain a great deal of patience and compassion which can be translated into this position I am applying for well. Furthermore, working in an educational setting has meant that I have been able to work well in a team and communicate effectively and efficiently with others in order to get the job done to a high standard. Despite my great ability to work well with others, I also have the capacity to work independently and use my own initiative in order to get work done. I believe that I am a well-rounded and very able individual who will try to complete any task given to me. I will work hard to get results and I believe this will benefit the both of us if you choose to give me this job. Not only will I benefit through gaining important experience but you will also benefit from my hard work, tenacity, creativity and determination.
I look forward to your response
