Hi, my name is Chloe and i am 19 years old. I have 2 years experience working in a private day nursery;
During my time at the nursery my main responsibilities would be to; set out activities for the children which would help encourage them to learn while playing, I would encourage them to get involved in different activities which would help to stimulate them physically and mentally and to help them develop. Another responsibility would be to help keep the room I was working in clean and tidy, there for there would be minimal risk of an accident occurring. I would also help during meal times and sleep times, involving myself in things such as group planning to ensure I was putting my own ideas for activities out there and giving input to team discussions.
Accomplishments
During my time at the nursery I think I bonded well with both children and staff members, I feel that I was able to work as a team member not only with the staff but the children too. I built relationships with the children as I feel this is important so they can learn to trust you. I feel by having the enthusiasm I had to work with the children and the other staff members made it easier to be able to bond with them and there for it made me be able to work to my full.
Skills Used
During my time at this nursery I was able to use many skills which I had learnt during my time at college. One of the major skills is communication, being able to understand people's preferred methods of communicating is important as it allows them to feel more comfortable with you. For example; if a child preferred communicating by looking a pictures and pointing them out they it would be important for me to try and use this method as it would make them more confident and comfortable with me. I am a very hard working person and once set a task I will try my very best to complete the task to the best of my ability. This allows the other members of the team to be able to rely on me as they know I will get tasks done.
