Rachael, childcare provider in Newcastle upon tyne

My name is Rachael Ann, I am 22 years old and looking to care for baby's and children.
I joined Tyne Metropolitan College to complete a course in children and young peoples work force level 2 I completed this course in June 2014. I am hopefully trying to gain some experience within this industry before training for my level 3, I am currently resiting my maths. I am full crb check.

During this course I have gained a vast amount of experience i.e safeguarding children, paediatric first aid, equality and inclusion, children and young people development, supporting children's positive behaviour, health and safety, partnership working and contributing to the support of children's creative development.
I chose to complete my work experience at blaydon day care centre during this time I planned and carried out activities for 0-4 year olds while observing the children with different observation techniques. I worked along side the nursery workers to help look after the children on a daily basis which were all different ages and abilities. During my time there I worked in two separate rooms one being a room for 3 months to 24 months. In this room We looked after a minimum of 8 babies. I made sure all babies were fed at the correct times by setting up their breakfast, snacks and then ensured all areas were clean and tidy. While working with the over 2 year olds I helped the children get into a routine. This enables them to become more independent and ensure they are progressing and getting ready to attend school. I was involved with activities such as creative activities, role plays, outdoor play and story time.

I worked within the EYFS guidelines a nursery has to abide by during the time I spent at blaydon day care centre. I feel this has gave me a vast amount of experience while doing my college placement in a nursery environment. I enjoyed my placement at the day care centre and it has made me realise how much i enjoy working with children and how much I want to peruse my career in this industry.
