Education:
I am currently studying BA (Hons) Drama and English and the University of Lincoln after taking a recent gap year to mature myself. This has emphasized my independence as I have grown into the adult world, learning how to take on the domesticated role, whilst still being a young adult.
Prior to my gap year, I studied at Wyke Sixth Form College in Hull. Here I achieved three strong A-Levels – English Literature and Language, Drama and Theatre Studies and Psychology - and one Level 3 BTEC in Performing Arts. It was these courses that taught me my love to read, imagine and think outside of the box.
Before studying my A-levels, I studied my GCSE's at Malet Lambert Language School. See my courses and grades listed below:
• English Language - B
• English Literature - A
• Mathematics - A
• Biology - A
• Chemistry - A
• Physics - B
• Geography - B
• Computing - B
• German - C
• Performing Arts (acting) - Distinction*
Personality:
Teaching myself discipline and creativity through perseverance I have self-taught myself the guitar for the past 5 years, becoming a grade 6. This has provided me with a sense of mental stamina and the knowledge that what is difficult will soon become your talent.
Moreover, HeyMind is charity in the Hull and East Yorkshire area, which raises awareness about Mental Health. As a strong supporter and a member of the supported by this amazing charity, I do a lot to help raise funds for them, including bake sales, flyer posting and sponsored events. For example, it was in September 2017 when I completed my first sponsored skydive for the charity, raising over £800.
Experience:
Morrisons employee (August 2015 - Present) - Currently, I am working at my Local Morrisons situated on Holderness road, hull. For the past 3 years I have taken the opportunity to become trained in the Grocery, Oven Fresh, Checkouts and Cafe departments. I have had no disciplinary issues and have remained with 100% attendance for longer than the past year. As well as being competent with food, hygiene and dealing with customers first hand, these responsibilities have led to my own development of strong time management with a good perception of a clear start goal and end goal. Working in this job has provided me with high and positive motivational skills as I have been able to grow with a strong sense of independence.
In addition, since working on the Oven Fresh department, our Pie shop has come to be considered one of the best pie shops out of over 400 different Morrisons stores. Furthermore, the different training on four different departments has quickened my reaction time to new jobs and has allowed me to demonstrate my quick learning and genuine curiosity in the workplace.
Boyes employee (August 2014 - August 2015) - Prior to working at Morrisons, I worked a Sunday job at my local Boyes store - Bransholme, Hull. Again, this year long job led me to be dealing with customers first hand, enabling me to develop my own and first sense of problem solving, such as having to switch displays or hand write labels/product codes. This first, job provided me with my first sense of responsibility.
As well as working part time in supermarkets, I have taken up an interest in theatre and performance. I strongly believe that a healthy life is an equal balance of both work and play. It’s for this reason that I have worked with a number of theatres, as an actor, including the Hull Truck theatre Company, pilot theatre and, as a writer, Apposarts theatre Company. Doing this as well as working and as well as studying highlights my commitment, determination and dedication to the companies I partner myself with. The acting and writing provides me with a catharsis to help me balance my emotions and motivation.
