I am an active, bubbly, confident individual who loves working with children and have known it’s something I was meant to do from an early age. I am very family oriented and dream of the day I can start my own family, just being around children makes me happy. A child’s happiness is paramount in my care, I am caring and patient and I always have the child’s best interest at heart. I am a keen dancer in my spare time and I enjoy keeping kids active and I believe a healthy and fun way to do this is through song and dance. I also enjoy reading, walking and swimming. I am also quite creative and like to bake and do craft activities with children. I believe that this encourages children to express their emotions and share ideas with their peers. I am kind, fun and fair and I believe that everything should be approached with positive reinforcement. In my care I will always enforce the rules set by parents, but will ensure that good manners and general good behavior is enforced.
I love children and my strength is that I am very natural around them, I am confident but quiet enough that children are not intimidated by me, I love listening to children and the stories that they tell and I think this is one of the main reasons why I can create good relationships with them. Throughout my course I have picked up many skills, such as planning activities that link to different areas of development (Physical Gross and Fine motor skills; emotional, social and personal; intellectual; language and communication) as well as making them fun, I have worked with the early years foundation stage (EYFS) and the national curriculum, and I am very aware of how to plan activities to meet children’s individual needs that are age appropriate. I have also been teaching a child to swim, which I would count as a skill too.
I have worked for a single mum who works full time and has a 4 year old son. I work every evening and pick him up after school until late and alternative weekends. After school I do his homework with him, play with him, bathe him and give him a bedtime story before I put him to bed. When I work weekends, I take him to his clubs that he attends such as drama, football and golf. I also teach him how to swim and take him to indoor play areas, museums and the park and much more. I really love being a nanny but as I will be qualified soon I am looking for something a bit more long term and full time.
Throughout my course, I have had three placements in different settings with different ages for 5 months a piece-I have reports on all of these that can be given upon request.
Occasional babysitting | $8.00 per hour |
Partial / after-school care | $6.50 per hour |
As I will be newly qualified at a level 3 in children's care learning and development in June 2015, have a DBS and pediatric first aid qualification with experience being a nanny, this reflects my rates of charge.
