Amy, childcare provider - PO3 Hilsea

My name is Amy, I am 36 years of age and have 20 years experience in working with children in Studying Childcare Level 2 and 3 it has given me the opportunity to work in various roles within education. As a Family outreach worker I set up groups for families and opened up the church to the community. I set up a very popular messy play group called Creative Hearts that saw over 2000 families attend. I led a youth service once a month 30+ teens regularly.
I set up a new group for pregnant mums and a postnatal depression group.
I supported teenagers who had specific needs and needed lots of care and empathy: I visited them for weekly one to one support meetings. I also attended regular meetings with outside agencies children’s centres, CAMHS, social services, schools.
I also set up a lot of fundraising events for the church raising just over £1000 for the children’s counselling group at the Rowans hospice which helps children come to terms with a loss in the family.
I also regularly look after my friend's children and take them out to different groups as well as teach them things within the home., I feel I am an honest person and very approachable and that every child or young person matters and that they should all be given equal opportunities to thrive in their lives. I enjoy working as a team but can also work alone, my past role I did work on my own for the majority of times and had to use my own initiative and develop what was needed within the area, as well as remain confidential at all times unless I felt a child or young person could be at harm.
