For the past twenty years I have been working in the caring profession; Throughout this time I have gained various caring skills working in a nursing and community setting, which have also improved my people skills and how I interact with others.
My experiences to date have involved caring for seriously ill elderly clients and I have also cared for adults with debilitating mental illnesses such as Alzheimer's and Dementia and physical illnesses such as Parkinson's, Cancer and MS. Caring is more than a profession; it is a way of life, as so much of a carers personality, and enthusiasm goes into their job. I am eager to pursue this career as my present post gives me job satisfaction, but feel I could give so much more. Providing emotional support to both clients and family in times of distress is one of the many skills required. My work experience to date has equipped me with these skills. On many occasions this has meant supporting clients until the end of life. I have also done some voluntary work at the local primary school this particular experience, working within a primary school environment, allowed me to acquire a number of skills and also help enhance my weaker ones I can be a very good listener and a good communicator which is an important quality needed. Throughout my work at the school I was able to gain valuable experience of working with special needs children. While this was very challenging I also found it a rewarding and enjoyable
experience. I am able to work well independently and can also work very well as part as a team. Being a nurse, is not just a profession but also a passion, they touch people in all walks of life, they are not only there for the patient but also for family and loved ones.
