At university I am hoping to study medicine and then go on to specialise in paediatrics because I enjoy working with children. I am only 17 at the moment but turn 18 on the 29th July, I happen to be one of the youngest in my year group but I do not believe this does not reflect my experience or responsibility.
As the eldest of nine and being 17 myself, I have had experience of looking after children of various ages and learning of the different requirements and the need to adapt depending on the child’s age. I have had to take them on outings to the park, change nappies, feed them bottles, settle them. When I was 16 I started doing paid babysitting for some of my mum’s friends, these children were usually primary school age and I had to do various tasks including collecting them from school, cooking dinner, helping with schoolwork and putting them to bed. I always made sure I followed the parents’ instructions such as their bedtimes and internet restrictions.
I have also done experience as Kingsdown School, which is a school for children with special needs, so I have learnt how each child needs to be treated individually not as a generic body as different children have different needs. This furthered my understanding of looking after and caring for children.
I am a young leader at my church’s girl’s brigade, where I have gained the trust of young girls and motivate them to take part in various activities and tasks. I enjoy working alongside other leaders to ensure the children are having fun and want to come back every week.
Occasional babysitting | $6.50 per hour |
Partial / after-school care | $6.00 per hour |
I am trying to raise money to put towards my university fund to study medicine next year, most babysitters I know charge over this however as I am young I thought I'd say below their prices.
