Presentation

My name is Millie Elizabeth , I am 17 years old and I am a hard working, responsible individual who has just finished Sixth Form at The De Ferrers Academy. Now that I have completed my A-levels, I am looking for a full-time job to gain experience as I am looking for a career in animal care.

I am organised, very hard working and enjoy being challenged and learning new skills. I work well with other people as well as on my own initiative. I am very enthusiastic and strive to succeed and do well in everything I participate in.

During my time at school, I have learnt how to organise fundraising activities and know how to co-operate and work well with other people. My communicational skills are very good and have been developed within my two years of studying Health and social care. I also aim to do everything to a very high standard.

Strengths-
My main strengths include being very motivated and enthusiastic which was demonstrated when working at Tutbury Castle as I had to entertain and keep the children interested in the activities. I am also very caring and easy to talk to which was shown when doing my work experience at Fountains Primary school, when working with year 6 children with severe learning disabilities I had to be caring towards them and also have patience when working and reading with them. This helped keep them calm and happy during lessons and comfortable to come and talk to me. I am very dedicated towards my interests and jobs as I find it makes them more enjoyable and worthwhile. Doing my work experience has helped me become very confident with children and their daily needs. Having 3 younger brothers and babysitting for family members have also helped me become more confident when caring for children from 6 months to 8 years old. I do not mind changing or cleaning children and am very happy to sit with children and keep them happy and entertained, I feel that doing this builds a stronger bond with the children and allows them to feel happy and relaxed with you. This was also shown when doing my work experience at Fountains Primary school. When I first started there was one child who suffered from challenging behaviour. I found that sitting down with him and talking helped calm him down and feel more confident about talking his problems. I am also very good at team working skills as well as working independently or in a one to one situation.

Skills I want to improve-
During this jobI would like to improve my care skills for young children and build up my confidence as much as possible when around new children. This will help me gain more experience in a childcare setting and allow me to become more experienced and motivated when looking for a job in the future. Building up patience is also very important and I feel this job will help me achieve this because young children can be very challenging and find ways to deal with this can help in the future.

Hobbies and interests-
I am very dedicated towards charity events such as Sports Relief, Children in Need and Help for Heroes. I have done a sponsored walk for Sports Relief, helped set up and sell food at the Strawberry Tea event and during my time at Air Cadets I helped hold an event for Help for Heroes. I have currently just finished a year of mentoring a year 7 student who struggles in lessons and has now increased her grades making her more comfortable and happy in school. I enjoy babysitting for family members and helping out in school events.

Why-
I want to work with children as I am comfortable and have a clear understanding of the care and attention children require. I also enjoy having the task of keeping them happy and cared for throughout the day. I feel that having an impact on a child's learning and development is amazing as it helps them throughout their life.

I can bring a friendly and caring approach as well as patience and a sense of humour around other staff and children. I can use my desire to care for children to remain calm under pressure. I want to make the children happy and comfortable around me and help them with their daily needs. I know I can help the children in any way possible and make their time there very enjoyable and trouble free.
