I´m a Spanish young woman who is 30 years old living in the UK to improve her English.
I studied a degree in Social Education in 2006 and I finished a post-grad by a distance University to become an “Expert in Addiction Prevention".
I consider myself a very responsible person, active, optimistic and with positive social values which guide my daily life. I strongly pursue for freedom, tolerance, intercultural exchange, spirit of solidarity… and I consider education as the main way to transfer them.
I like spending spare time doing activities such as sport, reading, listening to music, meeting friends or visiting family.
As I said in the paragraph before, I was a Social Educator for several years. I chose this career because I trust in “education" as a way of change for people and societies; I think it's very exciting helping to improve life´s conditions of different social groups such as children, women or people with disabilities.
I did my professional practices in socio-educational plans for children and teenagers who were in social risks, where educators, psychologists and other professionals carried out some activities to improve their marks teaching them study methods, or leisure activities which help them to improve their behaviour… and at the same time we guided families with their needs.
I have also worked in several plans intended to drug addicts. In my last job I lived in a flat with several persons who were having treatment to re-integrate into society and I helped them to recover some lost habits, to make decisions, to manage their leisure time or to prevent relapses.
In my personal experience, I´ve had contact with children very often because I have a 4 years old nephew and two nieces aged 8 and 11, who I have had to look after many times since they were babies. I have enjoyed seeing them grow because I love all what is related to childhood education: I think that shaping an individual person who is more and more self-sufficient and looking how he/she is becoming part of a society is something fantastic! In my opinion educating children with affection, developing their social and individual skills, transferring them some values like respect and helping them to have a high self-esteem, is a very difficult task, although its results can´t be measured nor quantified,
Last year I worked in the UK for diferent nurseries as well as an ocassional babysitter looking after children for diferent families.
I'm currently looking for a permanent job and I'm also planning to run Spanish lessons for children, which keep me highly motivated.
