Camp Anne is a residential summer camp program, serving individuals who have mild to profound developmental disabilities. As a counselor, Hannah’s responsibilities included the daily care of our campers, providing them with the necessary guidance and supervision in their daily routine. Hannah lived in one of our cabins that provided care for adults, adolescents and children with all levels of cognitive and physical disabilities. Hannah provided support for children in the Bridges to Health foster Care program. Hannah demonstrated an excellent understanding of the needs of our special population, successfully developing therapeutic relationships with some of our most challenging campers. Hannah assisted our campers in the following direct care and daily living activities: toileting, showering, dressing, and feeding at mealtimes. Also, she helped monitor our campers’ emotional, behavioral and health needs. Hannah additionally facilitated the camper’s enjoyment of activities including sports, horse-riding, swimming, nature, music, arts, and crafts. Hannah was responsible for the full and total supervision of her campers for the entire stay at camp. Hannah attended our intensive one week training program which included several aspects of providing care for individuals with developmental disabilities including OSHA and infection control, manual handling and positive approaches. I found Hannah to be an extremely likeable individual and was consistently one of our best staff members. I would not hesitate to reemploy Hannah and will seek to do so in the future. During her time at the University of Worcester Hannah worked for me on a number of different wheelchair basketball events. These events included the West Midlands Regional Schools finals and the National Schools finals that we hosted at the University. I always found Hannah to be an excellent communicator and very supportive of the wheelchair and disabled students playing or supporting the events. Hannah is extremely well organised and very calm under pressure - key attributes for working at such large events. Staff from Great Britain Wheelchair Basketball were so impressed by her commitment, attitude and performance that they invited her to work on additional wheelchair basketball events for them. As an event manager i was always pleased to have Hannah in the team as i knew her integrity was always first class, she was honest and most importantly she got the job done!
