Sophie, childminder

Hi! My name is Sophie and I live in Lakeside with my husband and young daughter.

I have worked in primary education in both Cardiff and London for fifteen years as a teacher, as a deputy headteacher and then qualifying as a headteacher. The arrival of my own daughter led me to learn more about early childhood development and consequently qualify as a childminder to provide childcare for other parents.

I am passionate about early development and children’s education but as a mother myself I fully understand the importance of fun, laughter and love!

Curiosity Childcare offers parents the high quality learning of a nursery standard but in the nurturing environment of a home setting. I follow the 0 - 3 curriculum and EYFS framework along with sensory activities, music, cultural exploration, stories and outside play. I am trained in makaton, phonics and forest schools and I am a close five minutes walk from the park and library which will be wonderful learning stimulation for the children. I am happy to share planning with parents and keep you informed of your child’s development with a learning journal.

I offer three healthy meals a day including snacks. My house is a nut free environment and I am trained in food hygiene and paediatric first aid.

I understand how difficult it can be to leave your child so can keep you up to date thoughout the day if you wish, I am always on the end of the phone and happy to speak to you about your child whenever you want. I offer a free of charge settling in service so that children can get used to me before starting full time.

I really believe in providing children with outstanding learning stimulation and a happy and safe home and will always endeavour to provide the highest quality of care for your child.
