Yasmin, childminder in Glengormley BT36

Hello, my name is Yasmin and I am currently 18 years old. I am a full time student studying my A levels and a night class in Sign Language.

As I wish to work with children for my career, I want to gain experience in working with children further outside of my family members. I am open to any type of work and can usually work week days from 3pm, except Tuesdays unless absolutely necessary, and I am completely willing to work Weekends also.

I have some experience working with primary school children, through work experience in Jordanstown School for the Deaf and Blind. I am a kind and caring person. I am willing to try new things and can adapt quickly to any child's needs. I have a willingness to learn and I can learn quickly.

There are various games and activities I like to use to engage with young children; sing-alongs, charades, board games or any game that allows the children to use their imagination and engage with their age group. I enjoy encouraging the children to engage in new ideas, and also enjoy learning from the children what they like to do. For example, if they enjoyed playing video games, I would engage and play their video games with them to ensure there is a bond there that allows the child to feel comfortable around me and my new ideas.

I understand that I may be young and slightly inexperienced, but I believe that by learning on the job and actually having proper experience in a child's environment. I feel I would be able to bring new ideas and learning into the child's life that could help them to develop and grow, just as they would help me to learn and grow too.
