Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to you today to express interest in the position you have advertised. I first became interested in working with children when I was training to become a dance teacher. During this time, I volunteered and helped with the younger ballet lessons which were a great experience. The joy and pride I felt when I had helped a young person achieve their personal goals, and helping them progress through the ballet grades has reinforced my belief that this is the correct career path for me.
I feel that my personality suits this job, as I have the drive and passion to succeed and help children achieve their best. I’m also kind, patient and willing to understand. I feel these qualities are important when being a nanny as you need to have drive, so that you can help children and think of effective ways to help them progress. However, I will also have the patience and caring nature to allow children to progress their own way.
During my apprenticeship, I loved the way I could interact with the children through activities and their day to day routine. I love the way that I can make such a difference in children’s lives and help guide them in their future progress. I can honestly say that I love every day that I work with children, no day is the same it makes you feel pride and joy when you see the children smiling and showing off their skills and knowledge, I have taught them throughout their time in my care.
Whilst I was a hairdresser, I had experience dealing with lots of children. Whilst I was there I had to learn how to communicate with children of different ages. With the youngest of my children I had to distract them and reassure them so I could keep them calm and still whilst cutting their hair. With the older children I had to communicate with them about their hobbies and interest. I feel that my time in the salon helped me learn, how to connect with children all ages and how to make them feel safe and calm in my care whilst I was cutting their hair.
Overall, I feel that being a nanny is the right career opportunity for me as I would love to be able to connect and teach children new skills and goals. I feel that being able to watch how the individual child grows and becomes more independent in life is rewarding.
