Dear Families
I am a 23 year old English South African. I have 4 years of au pairing and childcare experience. I have looked after children from the age of 6 months to 18 years, including a special needs dyspraxic. I made incredibly strong bonds with all of my children and still remain in contact with them today. I also had and still have great relationships with their parents.
I really love working with children and have enjoyed many hours doing interesting, creative and educational activities with the children I have looked after. I treat each child as an individual and try to zone in on their interests and if I see something there I will engage with them and encourage them on that topic.
I like to think that I became a part of the two families I worked for long term and formed an older sister role, but my references do really speak for themselves. I am happy to send them on and you are more than welcome to chat to my previous employers if you need to.
I also spent the first 6 months of this year teaching English in Vietnam to children from the age of 4 to 16. It was a really hardworking and humbling experience and I feel like I learnt a lot about kids and how to get them to listen in a fun and gentle way (I'm not the disciplinarian type). Obviously a classroom situation is different to one on one scenarios but my experience as a childcare has definitely been enhanced by teaching students of all ages.
I have strong family ties to Scotland and my boyfriend is Scottish which is why I have chosen to move here. I have a grandparent who was born in the UK and as a result I can quite easily get a 5 year working visa if you would like me to work for you. I have a valid drivers license (and 6 years of driving experience- including lifting children every day) and would have no problem driving here but I do not have a car of my own yet.
I am a very family-oriented girl coming from a big, loving family. I believe in trancparency and communication is key when it comes to working with other families. I am willing to answer any questions you have and would love it if you got to know me.
I would love to meet you and your children as I feel its the best way to get to know each other and then you can decide if I will fit into your family.
