Hi, my name is Amie Jane. I'm 22 and living in Swansea.
I'm currently working at the range (a large department store) and although it pays the bills, it isn't what I would like to do in the long term. I'm looking to make the change to childcare.
I have 3 nephews and 2 nieces that I look after regularly (aged 7, 6, 4, 3 and 2) and have done since the eldest was born. So I have experience and am comfortable looking after children of all ages.
I don't drive (although I am learning) so activities are slightly limited when I have all five, to places we can easily reach on foot, like the local park. At home, I get them involved in activities like drawing, or on more adventurous days, baking (which is a ridiculously messy task with 5 children), but they have tons of fun. I help the older 2 with any homework they have and sit to read with them. Their bedtime routine always ends with milkshake and a snack before a story and lights out.
When it comes to discipline, I use the naughty step routine and firmly believe that once they have finished their time out and said sorry, the incident is forgotten.
I also occasionally babysit a friend's 2 children and a family friend's grandson.
I hope to look into courses I could take to develop my skills in childcare, to help make this a long term career for myself.
Sorry if my presentation section is a bit long, I thought more information would be better. If I missed anything, or you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
