Toni, foreign au pair - LL16 Denbigh

My name is Toni I am twenty three years old and are currently working as an outdoor instructor in Bude, Cornwall teaching a variety of outdoor activities to people of all ages. This job is slowly coming to a close now with the season ending at the end of October 2016. After this I am now looking to get back in to childcare and gain a full time career in this area of work allowing me to work with children of all ages.

I hold a range of childcare experiences in both a professional and personal setting ranging from looking after young children up to teenagers. In terms of a nursery experience I currently hold two years’ experience which comes from working as both an apprentice and a nursery nurse. During my time as an apprentice I completed my QCF Level 2 in children’s care, learning and development which then led on to a nursery nurse role. To accompany my QCF I gained my food hygiene level two, my paediatric first aid and my first aid at work, child protection level 3 and manual handling. On a personal basis I have carried out regular babysitting from about the age of sixteen which continued throughout university and is currently ongoing on ad hoc basis. I have also taught children to climb at a local climbing wall and volunteered as a young leader for the local brownie pack.

From a young age I have always had an interest in the outdoors and travelling which is what led me to my outdoor degree at university. I enjoy taking part in rock climbing, hill walking and water activities such as canoeing, surfing and swimming. This has then led me to take up a career in the outdoor industry gaining a range or experiences and qualifications across a variety of activities. Eventually I have the desire to teach children educationally through the outdoors based on the skills and knowledge I have learnt and can therefore pass on to others. Aside from my outdoor hobbies I am also interested in reading, being creative, fishing and playing the piano. As an individual I am always up for trying new things and learning new skills.
