Demetria, foreign au pair - WF10 Castleford

Hi,

I am Demetria but I like to be known as Deme, I am a 19 year old female. I have recently moved to this area from North Devon, I have been looking for a chance to pursue my interest in caring for children but unfortunately there is not much of an opportunity for this where I am from as it is a small area. I am considered to be incredibly caring, respectful, mature and creative as I love working with children, mainly because I love ensuring that children have all of their needs met whether it is physically or mentally but they have a fun and amazing time with their development. I am hoping to be able to find a family who would be appreciative of the care for their children whether it is for complete days and routines or just for a few hours whilst they go and let their hair down. I am fresh out of completing my BTEC Children's care and development national diploma level 3, within this course I have completed 800 hours of childcare within different ages and needs of the children. I am qualified to work with children up to the age of 8 years old but I am willing to work with children that are older, I am able to communicate well with children who are older than the age of 8 years because I have grown up looking after my cousins and brother who are all varied in age. when I was completing my college course I was complimented on my ability to complete basic tasks such as feeding, changing nappies and setting them down to sleep, I am also considered to be very creative as I love to help the children explore their sense through messy play and creative activities. when I was completing the course I was taking charge of small groups of children and running activities with them to help their development and my knowledge and confidence when working with more than one child. I have worked one to one with children to complete portfolios, one portfolio was the child's development progress over 6 months and the other portfolio was to study a child with a disability and to observe how their day to day life was effected and to find activities and games to help them develop and take focus off of their disability. I felt that I did these very well because in both cases the parents were interested in having copies and evidence of anything that went into the portfolio to see their child's development from a different perspective. I am willing to adapt to any routines or needs of the child/children as well as any wishes that the parents have with regards to their children. you will find that I have a maternal side to my personality and despite the amount of coursework and portfolios that I completed for my college course the children's best interests where always the first priority on my list and this will always be the case.
