Hi,
My name is Abby and I'm 18 years old. I left high school in 2014 and when I first started college I realised that it wasn't for me. For the past year I have been working in office environments but that is not what I want to do for the rest of my working life. I would love to work with children as my career in the future and I believe that this is going to give me some amazing work experience. Although I don't really have professional experience working with children (nursery/school) I have lots of personal experience. My family is very child oriented, my mother works from home as a child minded and I am therefore around children every day. I have had my DBS check as a result of being around the children in my mothers care. Furthermore, my nan is a foster carer and I have plenty of experience looking after her children and being responsible for them on my own. I also have a regular group of clients who I babysit for frequently on weekends. The children I look after range from ages 4 months to 14 years. In addition, people often trust me to look after their pets when they go on holidays as I am mature and responsible.
When looking after children there are several activities that I do to keep them occupied. For example, if the weather permits, playing outside is a good option as it keeps the children active. However as the weather is often bad, I believe that arts and crafts is a good activity for children, especially when we can make seasonal things. Another thing I love to do is bake, I like to bake cakes and cookies and I often do this at home when helping out with the children.
