I am a 22 year graduate starting teacher training (primary) in September 2020. I am passionate about the outdoors and using the world around us to learn and play. I am a true believer in children having different learning styles therefore adjust my techniques and approaches to suit - this is a skill that has served me well over the years. I love baking, walking, puzzles, drawing as well as taking full advantage of the countryside to be creative! In my spare time I like rock climbing, mountain biking, swimming and surfing. I also am a keen runner!
I have a great deal of experience with children aged up to 15 and have worked for a year in a preparatory school as a teaching assistant. I have many years experience providing childcare in a variety of settings include summer play schemes and residential camps. I am a qualified paediatric first aider, hold a L2 food hygiene certificate. I also have an Open University Level 2 Award in Understanding Dyslexia. I have used this qualification endlessly and am comfortable and experienced working with young people with learning difficulties. Similarly, I have worked with a child with challenging behaviour where I have learnt key strategies and methods to be able to address situations which may occur. I also gained a certificate in Autism Awareness in 2018. Having studied outdoor education for 4 years I am experienced delivering outdoor learning and using outdoor spaces as a catalyst for new development. I have worked as both part of a team and independently throughout my time with children therefore am comfortable in all situations. As I have worked with children from very young to 15/16 I hold a lowland leader certificate, leading Duke of Edinburgh, as well as NCFE L2 Bushcraft, Survival & Wildness Skills (accepted by Forest School) and am a qualified Level 1 Paddlesport coach.
Having TA'ed for sometimes I am also comfortable supporting home schooling all primary years and up to GCSE (English Lang, Lit, Combined Science, PE & all humanities)
