My name is Harley . I am a singer and a dancer, and love to perform. I have recently graduated from Kingston University with a Bachelor of the Arts, Upper Second Class with Honours.
Throughout my life I have been surrounded by children of all ages due to having a close, large family. Growing up, being one of the oldest I was often left with (and still am…) the responsibility of looking after the younger children, from playing with them, feeding them dinner to bathing them ready for bed. Although my childcare experiences have never been for a professional place such as a nursery, apart from my year 10 work experience at secondary school, in which I was a teaching assistant for reception class in a primary school, looking after children has always been something I have enjoyed, and feels very natural to me.
As me and my friends have gotten older, few of my close friends have had children themselves, who now range from the ages of newborn to 4 years, with whom I spend a lot of my spare time with. They have often asked me to babysit, which is always an honour for me. Two of these children have also recently become my godchildren.
Many of my friends and family describe me as a 'big kid'. I especially love all things Disney! I am fun, outgoing and love to keep busy. When looking after children, I get involved with everything, I enjoy doing arts and crafts with children, and general fun things. I like to get children involved with cooking, from baking cakes to home made pizzas. I am the type of person who would rather interact, and get involved with what children want to do, instead of sitting them in front of the TV or tablet all day until their parents come home. I believe it is very important for children to experience different things and use their imagination and creativity. Although described as a 'big kid', I know when authority is needed, and can deliver it with confidence.
I also have deaf parents, meaning I am able to communicate in British Sign Language. So working with deaf children or deaf parents would be fine with me. In the future, my plans are to become a Dance Teacher for Deaf and Disabled children.
Occasional babysitting | $8.00 per hour |
Partial / after-school care | $9.00 per hour |
Home nanny | $12.00 per hour |
Whilst at university, I was offered a position with company similar to this and their minimum wage price was set to no less than £12 per hour, which I think is reasonable due to the nature of the job.
