Hello, my name is Brittany and I am a 21 year old female, studying a BA Hons degree in Printed Textiles and Surface Pattern Design at the Leeds College of Art. I currently specialise in children's interiors. I love creating simplistic, naive, fun patterns. I have completed my GCSE's, A Levels and also an Art and Design Foundation course.
I would consider myself to be rather flexible over the summer period before I return to university in September. I am an extremely keen individual who likes to do the best at whatever opportunities are available to me. I am also extremely friendly, caring, confident and happy to work in any environment (I adapt very easily).
I am a huge lover for family time; I love spending time with my family playing board games, going for country walks etc. I also enjoy cooking and baking and I'm a huge animal lover.
I will be returning home for the summer period (for approximately 3 months) and having worked within retail for 6 years now; I am looking for something a bit different.
I love working with children and I have worked within a children's primary/nursery school for a week as part of my work experience in secondary school, which throughly enjoyed. During my time spent at the Normanton-On-Soar Primary School, I was given the opportunity to work with children of different age groups. My role included looking after the children, assisting within various activities and helping the children with their understanding of the subject/activity in which they were involved in. I bonded really well with the students and staff members and loved every second of this experience.
I have a high level of care in which I have towards others, I am always making sure that people are okay and I try my hardest to make people smile. For Boots, I have worked on various departments including the baby/children section and I would regard myself to be very caring and considerate towards customers. I believe that attention to detail is the key and I strive to give good customer care.
I understand the importance of a child's imagination; and as a creative person myself I find great pleasure out of inventing new and exciting activities and games. As a child, having bought up with 3 older siblings I look back and appreciate how they would play games with me; even though they were past that stage in life. I expect that as a child carer I have many responsibilities. My role would involve great supervision to ensure that the child is safe and well protected within my care (including making sure hygiene is under control), preparing wholesome, delicious and exciting meals and snacks that the child would enjoy, arranging fun, safe and sometimes educational activities which the child has an interest in, ensure the child has a balance with playtime and rest, having the ability to identify the child's emotions and moods (knowing how to react/deal with the situation and ensuring to inform the parents), praise the child when they do something good and make notes of their progress and personal interests.
I love any excuse to use my artistic flair, and devoting the time to succeed in a project. I am also very eager to allow some time to go for a jog, walk, and the gym so I would class myself as being very active and outgoing. I have completely my bronze, silver and gold Duke of Edinburgh award. I have gained so much from this scheme, which has led to the development of my skills within personal fitness and first aid.
