I was still in High school till October 2013. When I was in third year I decided that I wanted to do my work experience week in a nursery setting. I sent out an application to Glenbervie kindergarten in Larbert and much to my delight I got accepted and I got to see how childcare professionals did their work. In August 2013 My High school agreed to let me have every Friday morning off so I could do some more work experience, I got to work besides the early years officers in Lauriesten primary school nursery class. As well as going to the nursery every Friday morning Graeme high school also let me go to college for two periods a week. Every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon I went to Forth Valley to Study early education and childcare. I loved doing my college course but I was no longer able to go when I left High school in October. I have always loved doing childcare from an early age. I played a big part in raising my two younger siblings and I feel I have a natural bond with children. As well as a natural bond, I have the knowledge of what it takes to raise a child. Working at Bright Beginnings nursery I was taught about GIRFEC and how to spot signs that a child may be getting abused and how to go about it. I always feel I have achieved when a child feels safe and comfortable enough to come to me and discuss something personal that they would like help with. I always ensure that children can look to me as a sign of safety but also as someone who they can have a lot of fun with. When it comes to discipline I like to be firm but fair. I feel I would be good as your very own Mary Poppins as I can work with babies as young as 6 weeks and also look after kids that are in their pre-teens. As I am a young girl that sometimes makes me more relate able to the girls age between 6-13 so they feel they have someone they can talk to about their problems that they maybe couldn’t ask their own parents. I am very easy to get along with and I enjoy getting to know the parents just as much as I do the children. Please pop me a little message if you would like more information!
Occasional babysitting | $5.50 per hour |
Partial / after-school care | $5.30 per hour |
As I am 19 I am not expecting a large hourly wage, I feel £5-£7 an hour is a suitable amount as I am hard working and I put a lot of effort into childcare.
