I feel my NNEB qualification and skills - for example: extensive experience in managing a sole position in caring for children of various different ages, confidence to work on my own initiative and good time management.
I was awarded a pass on completion of my Diploma in Nursery Nursing at the South East Essex College of Arts and Technology in 1994.
As a student I learnt the skills to recognise the development and targets of the children in my care using the EYFS framework for guidance and completing Observations of each individual child within my roles as a nursery nurse. I have also completed many different courses throughout my time in employment, which have increased my knowledge and awareness of looked after children and safeguarding them.
In my role as a nanny I successfully managed altering changes in the day to day running of a busy household which became possible with my well organised, level headedness and good time management procedures.
Also in my role of a childcare worker in Social Services I needed to be able to co- ordinate my time between contact visits ensuring that I completed all relevant paperwork and reports on the follow up to these visits, so that the Social worker in charge of the case could be kept up to date with any changes.
In many of my employment roles as a nursery nurse, nanny and childcare worker I gained many valuable skills that can be used in all aspects of caring and safeguarding children. In these roles, my key responsibilities were:
Working to and recognising the guidelines and procedures following the EYFS framework.
General safe care and welfare of all children. Light cooking and preparation of meals. Feeding and weaning young babies.
Planning and supervision of activities including arts and crafts, music and cooking.
Support with homework.
Preparing and supporting the children for transition into school.
To support families and ensure that they receive the correct and appropriate advice to safeguard their children.
To liaise with and provide referrals for relevant outside agencies to families unable to provide appropriate and adequate care unassisted.
