You may have heard the old adage "it takes a village to raise a child". The essence of this saying is that it is not only responsible mums and dads that are required to be good parents and role models. For a society to be at its most successful, it is the responsibility of all of us to help raise confident and happy children who will be confident and happy adults. And, this means having appropriate support at home from paid staff who will be a good and happy influence on your children. When mums and dads have found the right childcare for their little individuals, they themselves can be happy and relaxed in their day job.
My name is Nanny Karen and I have lots of informal experience of looking after nieces, nephews and children of friends, etc. and I have raised my beautiful son. I love looking after children, especially helping them to learn about the world around them in a stimulating environment. I am very keen to help nurture and educate children in a fun as well as appropriately disciplined way.
Research has shown that the early years are the most important of any child's life and in that respect, I think it is important to provide a loving, kind and patient environment as this is how children thrive. I also think it's a privilege to be a significant part of the support network that helps to raise a child.
I also have significant voluntary experience and happily gave my time to provide support to families through the charity Home Start. This gave me a good understanding of the challenges facing families in today's faced-paced and sometimes pressured environment, particularly for those who do not have close family relations living nearby.
Activities that I love to do with children include painting, arts & crafts, ball games including rugby, football, cricket - anything with a ball or shuttlecock! Reading, jigsaw puzzles, hide & go seek, singing, dancing, homework, going to the park, seaside, galley visits, the list is, of course, endless....
I am extremely responsible, motivated and discreet having a professional background in a very busy and pressured environment supporting senior officers and politicians. In this respect, I am unflappable!!
I have completed a first aid course specifically aimed at treating minor ailments in children and I am Disclosure checked.
I welcome the opportunity to discuss your support requirements working in your home in the Edinburgh area as well as Musselburgh.
Please don't hesitate to call me. My rates are negotiable depending on childcare element, location and whether light housework is required. As they say and I hope you find, "I'm worth it!!!!"
Kind regards,
Karen.
