My name is Jodie , I am confident and experienced in child care, and have been working with children for 5+ years. I have experience working in a nursery setting and also as a private nanny. I feel working in different settings has given me the best practical knowledge and experience when working with children and their families. I have built up experience working with children across a wide range of ages from babies (6 months and above) to older children up to primary school age. I have always known I wanted to work with children so when I left secondary school I studied a CACHE Level 3 Children and Young people’s diploma, and was then when I first started working with children.
The combination of the written work and practical experience I have gained has encouraged me to help the children have the highest standard of care possible, this also supports me with the learning and developmental needs of the children within my care. I am happy to work independently on my own but also happy to work alongside a team and respect any requests that they may have. I believe it is very important to work within a team whether that be with parents or other work colleagues so the children have stability and have set out boundaries and expectations.
I feel in my sector of work it is very important to continue to learn more within child care, as I feel there is always room for improvement and to ensure that my knowledge is kept fully up to date. Some of the additional training I have attended includes:
• Risk assessment Training
• Physical Development Training
• Child Protection Training
• Making Meal Times Matter Training
• First Aid Training
I love working with children and personally enjoy seeing them grow and learn at their individual pace. I was lucky enough to have been given the opportunity to work closely with a family in the last 18 months where I built a great connection with not only the children but the parents to which I am still in contact with. And while doing that, I have also been working in a nursery building a great relationship with my team and the children’s parents which I think is so important to be able to have that time with parents to be able to share how their child is doing, and also for the parents to let us know how the child is getting along at home and to share any great learning experiences that they may have had.
In my past experiences I have enjoyed being a nanny the most as you get more time to spend with a child getting to know them, building a bond while supporting and encouraging there development.
