I believe in the holistic care and development of children with an emphasis on learning through play. I am also interested in the Montessori principles and, in the future, would like to undertake qualifications in this.
My background is varied and includes 1 and 2/3rds of 2 degrees, work running a large daycare centre in the USA, various modules and courses in all aspects of early years, child development and childhood.
In regards to 2/3rds of my second degree, I started midwifery training but partway through I realised it wasn't for me, though I have the experience I have gained from caring for women throughout pregnancy, labour and postnatally (including breastfeeding support, care of the newborn, bathing and dressing demonstrations etc) and caring for the newborn (including recognising normal development and when there may be problems, caring for ill and premature babies and tube feeding).
Occasional babysitting | $7.50 per hour |
Partial / after-school care | $5.70 per hour |
As I'm over 25 (I'm 32), in entitled to minimum wage. I'm also undertaking my level 2 in childcare, I have experience with family and friends as well as professional experience in running a large child care setting. I've had experience of caring for newborns up to 8/9years+. I also have experience in play work and some experience supporting young people with learning difficulties. I am also in the process of applying to become a childminder, though if I find a role I am enjoying, I would stay in that role until I am no longer needed and then do childminding.
If a Mother's Help role is available, I would charge £6.00p/h net.
