After leaving secondary school, and eager to start a career in childcare I started as an apprentice working at Busy bee's in Altrincham, where i gained my NVQ level 2 in childcare. Working in the pre-school room, i was given a role as key carer working with children aged 3-4. I was able to build up a good understanding of the EYFS and was able to learn about the differnent stages of development and how to make learning fun! Within my role I was also able to build up good relationships with the children and their parents. In July 2014 I decided to further my career by taking my NVQ3 at Oakfield Nursery in Altrincham where I was offered a job in the Tweenie and Toddlers to experience different ages ranging from 2-3. My duties included: - maintaining toys and equipment. - Finding ways to stimulate children. - Helping to feed, wash and clean the children. - Following and implementing the policies and procedures set out by the nursery. - Ensuring that all daily routines are adhered to. - Helping settling in new children. - Planning activities and writing observations. - preparing bottles and administrating medicine. After a year in Tweenies and Toddlers I have moved to the baby Unit as this has enabled me to gain experience now, of all ages within the Nursery. Key Skills: • Excellent communication skills. • Able to work as part of a nursery team. • Having a relaxed and fun attitude when talking to children. • Proactive and able to use initiative when solving problems. • Greatly enjoy working with children. • Having a fast moving 'can do' attitude. • A capacity for innovation. • Confident and able to work on own initiative. • Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. • Can communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
