A “live out” Nanny and Housekeeper is required to look after a 3-year-old and a 1-year-old – both boys, the elder of which attends St George’s college in Weybridge each day. You will also be required to undertake light housekeeping duties. You should have a natural empathy with children, be interested in their development and you have creative ideas and be able to organise interesting and stimulating activities. Patience is key and a sense of humour a must!
The role is 4 days a week: Monday (7am until 6pm), Tuesday – Thursday inclusive, 6am – 7pm. Work pattern flexibility will be required from time to time to accommodate parental work related responsibilities, which may change timings occasionally. Two evenings babysitting per month are required.
Nanny responsibilities:
• Performing all duties necessary to care for the children. These include, but are not limited to:
o Bathing, dressing, and changing nappies. Toilet training will be required as the baby develops
o Teaching basic social skills and hygiene
o Providing a safe environment
o Catering all meals for the children: to be prepared daily using fresh produce, freezing where appropriate. Full responsibility for ongoing weaning of the baby and a healthy diet
o Taking children to all necessary classes, including, but not limited to, playgroups, baby socialisation sessions, parties, nursery, music classes etc. As the children grow, these responsibilities will adapt to include other social and educational needs
o Ensuring that baby is fully occupied and stimulated each day e.g. trips to the playground, walks, reading, library and other interesting activities. Again, these activities will change as the children develop
Housekeeping duties:
Full responsibility for the upkeep and cleanliness of the house. Includes, but not limited to:
• Regular vacuuming of carpets, wherever present
• Cleaning of all floors – tiled and wooden
• Cleaning of all bathrooms
• Dusting, including surfaces, blinds and skirting boards
• Laundry and ironing for household occupants. Laundering and ironing sheets on children’s beds and parental bed
Skills and qualifications required:
• First aid childcare course
• Safe driver with a full, clean driving license and use of own car for transportation of children; this includes drop offs and pick-ups at school
• Genuine love of children and an interest in their ongoing developmental needs
• Fluent English speaker with good level of education
• Knowledge of the physical, intellectual, emotional and social development of children
• The ability to make close and trusting relationships with parents and children
• A kind and cheerful personality
• A good imagination to plan activities that are fun and help development
• Patience, understanding and a sense of humour
• A responsible attitude to work
• Commitment to health and safety, and food hygiene
• The ability to stay calm under pressure
• Lots of energy and stamina
• Comfortable around pets (3 cats)
Holidays: 28 days holiday per annum, which includes 8 UK bank holidays. Holidays must be planned with the parent, with at least 4 weeks prior notice, in order that annual leave childcare cover can be accommodated.
Salary: Excellent salary for the right candidate
Start date: Mid-January 2019 for a week’s handover period
